But I am too busy to read to my child.

The Grammar and Writing School

Then get someone to read to your child. By this we mean – audio books – a treasure trove in itself, not many talked much about.

We met Val and Ken many years back when they first enrolled their older son at our centre. Val and Ken were amazing parents! Their older son, was a very busy boy. He was a national sportsman. His time table was packed with school work and training sessions. But Val was not about to let her busy son just go by without reading. She would always source for a good read for the boy. But she was a busy mum and so was her son. So Val went straight for audio books. She shared with us that whenever she jumped into the car – either on short drives to school or training, or long ones, like on holidays to neighbouring countries, she would play an audio book for her son to listen. That helped with her busy son’s writing and within just a few months of our programme, Val’s son was ready to rock. He scored an A* for his PSLE English that year and made it to Raffles Institution.

(We will share more information on audio books in our subsequent blogs.)
